Today, I went with most of my family to the annual family reunion. This year it was in a tiny little town! It was splendid.
We played at the park . . .
And heard some hilarious stories from my grandpa and his sister from when they grew up in this quaint town. Then, with our caravan of cars, we drove around the whole city looking at sights from our ancestry (which took about 4 minutes). Like my great-grandmother's old yellow house.
And the house my grandpa and most of his siblings were born in. Literally. Their mother gave birth to them in this wee cabin. Outrageous!
The present owner of this property was kind enough to let all 40ish of us reunion-goers into the cabin (which he now uses as a storage shed) to walk through the grand total of 3 rooms while my grandpa's sister told us where everything was when she lived there and how she had to sleep under the table and go to the outhouse in the winter and clean out the slop jar. Right in the middle of her telling these stories, my grandpa (who had been outside measuring the dimensions of the cabin) walked into the room, threw the tape measure across the length of the room and starting measuring. No one really knows why. Probably to create a replica of it or something. It was hilarious.
And the neighbors had a nice wind dial. I don't really know what those things are called, but it was nice and I liked it.
4 more days 'til London!
Post number ONE. Now I am officially part of the blogging world. I've thought about creating a blog before, but it wasn't until recently that I was persuaded into getting one so that I could chronicle my adventures while studying abroad in London. And to create a way for my friends and family and other random, but welcome, strangers to be slightly stalker-ish in a socially acceptable way and read about my life. I tend to be a procrastinator so this may or may not be the only post, but let's hope for the best.
In 4 days 17 hours 33 minutes I will be departing from the SLC airport and on my way to London, and I could not be more excited! I've dreamt (I feel like this is a real word, but the auto-edit begs to differ) about being in London nearly every night this week. I just want to be on that plane already! I pretty much don't have anything packed, but I almost don't care. I'm looking forward to this event more than almost anything else that has ever happened to me in my entire life. It is going to be fantastic. And all of you will get to experience a part of it if I am good and keep you updated on what is happening. :) Wish me luck!
